Four days until I head out the door and drive to Louisiana. I have been following the story for the past 50 days and like many people feel somewhat overwhelmed by the massive amount of information being published and distributed!

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to use this blog to focus on the relationship humans have with water. 60 to 70% of our body is made up of water; 70% of the planet is covered in oceans; 98% of the planet’s water is ocean – so only 2% of the planet’s water is drinkable. Water is a part of the day to day life of every living being on our planet. Try to imagine a day without water? Pretty hard!

It’s amazing how thoughtless we have been with such an important and indispensable resource.

Stopping the flow of oil in the gulf is crucial but think about the long term consequences of this polluted water that are going to effect and touch so many people.
Here is ‘Jim’s” story: 50 day ago he had a successful fishing/charterboat company. He has a wife and three kids, owns his own home and business – and was a picture perfect example of the happy American lifestyle.
Today – he is at risk of loosing his business; he cannot fish – to day BP has only paid him $5000 for loss of income. Charters have been cancelled – tourism is dropping off. He has missed cc payments and bank payments. He is at risk of loosing his home and his business.
Think about it – where might Jim and his family be in a year from now?
